Guys the STRUGGLE IS REAL for me on this topic. I always say there could be 10 of me and I still woudn’t be able to get done everything I want in a day. Literally in the blogosphere there is always something to do. From posting to social media, to brand deals, shopping for new outfits, travel plans, etc. etc. There is always something to do. And I believe that’s the case in most careers, but when you work for yourself you can’t turn it off. It’s 24/7.  I talked about what blogger do all day in this post. And knowing that I have a million things to do sometimes I can’t seem to focus. I want to start cleaning or cooking or find any distraction I can.

Do you guys listen to podcasts, I recently became obsessed with them! Because I mostly work from home I like background noise to feel like I’m not alone. Sometimes I miss that small talk convos with coworkers you’d bump into in the office kitchen. Like ‘ugh it’s Monday!’ or ‘Happy Hump Day!’ or on Friday ‘what are your plans for the weekend?’ I listened to one recently from the Goal Digger Podcast that talked about batch working. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to start on Sunday and see of I like it. Basically instead of doing a little bit of everything each day, instead you focus on one or two things and then you are done with it for the week. Have any of you tried this? So for example my week starts Sunday for me and I’m going to try to plan my blog topics for the week on Sunday for this blog and my wedding blog and start writing them. Then Monday finish writing my posts and plan out all of my instagrams for the week using the app Plann. Come Tuesday tackle all of my emails. Wednesday focus on brand deals. Etc. Etc. I’m going to try this for a few weeks and let you know how it goes.

TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK WHEN YOU’RE SELF-EMPLOYED

  • SET ALARMS – I set alarms throughout the day to keep me on track and boost my productivity. When I put a time limit on things, I’m more likely to not procrastinate.
  • GET OUT – Leaving the house to go work at a coffee shop or a WeWork forces me to get dressed and get out of the house to stay on a more ‘normal’ work schedule. It also takes me away from distractions around the house. I have been doing this daily since my dogs passed. I used to mostly stay in because of them haha. Another benefit is I try somewhere new each day and I’ve seen so much of the city since!
  • SEEK INSPO – to keep creativity flowing, I like to travel, walk the streets in New York or scroll through social.
  • SET UP MEETINGS – to stay connected and build relationships. Networking is so important when you work alone!

Alarms are a great idea! Have you heard about the pomodoro method? It helps me with focusing on one task at a time and to be more intentional. I found you through Instagram & now I am going to check out more posts, your blog is so beautiful. Greetings from Finland!
